Winning work of the IV edition of the Gil Soundtrack Award
The winner of the IV Edition of the Gil Soundtrack Award has been the composer David Heymann, for his work a gleam of hope. The Berliner is a passionate musician who has trained musically at the Robert Schumann School of Music and the University of the Arts in Utrecht. He is at the beginning of his career composing music for short films and cinematographic projects and, in addition, he was a finalist in the III edition of this contest, a sign of perseverance and dedication.
Amenábar evaluated the winning work in this way: “This year, the winning project meets two basic requirements in my opinion: it is very coherent and delicate, both in musical development and instrumentation; and explores in depth the expressive possibilities of what is narrated to us, which is why it contributes not only to the emotional reinforcement, generally attributed to music, but to the better understanding of some of the passages of the short film.”
The winning soundtrack accompanies the short film 'What you sow', selected from a previous script competition in collaboration with the ESCAC (Escola Superior de Cinema i Audiovisuals de Catalunya) and produced by it with a team made up entirely of students and graduates of the school.
