CONSTANTINO MARTÍNEZ-ORTS, CONDUCTOR

Maestro Martínez-Orts, a leading composer and conductor in the world of film music, is an intelligent and creative musician, unique for the passion and enthusiasm his performances convey. This is evidenced by the standing ovations he frequently receives as a composer.

Maestro Martínez-Orts is a professor of Orchestra Conducting at the esteemed Berklee College of Music. He is also the brains behind Film Symphony Orchestra. At the helm of the FSO, Maestro Martínez-Orts has conducted at almost all the important music venues in Spain, including such legendary concerts halls as Madrid’ Plaza de Toros de las Ventas, Palacio Vistalegre and Palacio de los Deportes, as well as Barcelona’s treasured Palau Sant Jordi. He is particularly motivated by specialist projects and has shared the stage with personalities of the calibre of Alan Silvestri, Harrison Ford, Hugh Grant, Pablo Alborán, Paz Vega and the footballer Roberto Carlos, among many others.

As the conductor of an orchestra specialising in music for the big screen, he has directed productions of Frozen and Back to the Future “In Concert”, shows where the film was projected while the soundtrack was played live and in time with the movie.

In 2016, Maestro Martínez-Orts was also a member of the adjudication panel for the Juan Gil Family Estates International Soundtrack Composition Prize. Among the other judges were Bruce Broughton, Roque Baños and Lucio Godoy.

In 2017, he composed and conducted original music for the celebration of the 31st Annual Goya Awards.

He has been recognised by an array of international bodies, winning 1st prize at the Moldova International Orchestral Conducting Competition and 2nd prize at the Craiova International Orchestral Conducting Competition. Additionally, he has conducted several of the most prestigious orchestras in Europe.

As a composer he has also been recognised with various prizes: the “Postgraduate Composers Prize”, awarded by The London College of Music to their best Master composer; 1st prize at the “Amadeus” International Composition Contest; 1st prize at the “Tomas Luis de Victoria” International Composition Contest; Best Soundtrack at the XXXI Edition of the Mostra de Cine de Valencia; 1st prize at the “Jerry Goldsmith” International Composition Contest for Pax et Bonum, among many others.
